Mona is a marine biologist and was kind enough to come in to teach us all about sea life. We got the opportunity to visit Sandycove and do some exploring of our own. Sixth class found some amazing creatures like: hermit crabs, starfish, and lots of different fish!

Here’s some of the amazing memories from our overnight school tour this year! This week has been very busy for sixth class. There has been sports day, ice-cream, helping with junior sports day, and organising our classroom. All on top of graduation preparation.
Today we practiced drawing circles outdoors using string as our compass. It was tricky but we got the hang of it quickly and managed to draw circles of varying radii and diameters. In January, we were learning all about Northern Irish history. Catherine’s mam grew up in Belfast during the troubles and very kindly did an interview in which she answered our burning questions about that period of history. It was very interesting and she gave us a great insight into life in Belfast at that time and how it compares to ours here in Dublin. Thanks Kevina!!!
Over the next few weeks, sixth class are participating in cycle safety lessons! All looking good so far- I’m sure in a few weeks we’ll be pros!
This week we got some very exciting news from our resident book worm, Jaee. Jaee entered a writing competition in the library and no surprise- she was the fantastic winner. She won herself an iPad! Isn’t that amazing? We are so proud of her in our class. Wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the best sellers in Eason very soon! Take a read of her wonderful piece above.
We are reading ‘City of Fate’ by Nicola Pierce. This book is set in what was once Stalingrad in Russia during World War Two. We reimagined it as if some of the characters were to have social media today and the sort of things they might post… Looking into 2023At the beginning of January we decided to set a couple of goals for 2023. Take a look at our fabulous creations!
