In November, we were learning about the properties and characteristics of materials. We experimented with various materials and different shapes (triangles and arches being the strongest). We even got the input of a real civil engineer to find out what the elements of a strong bridge are! Some of the 6th class built spaghetti bridges strong enough to hold dictionaries and even water bottles. Shotgun le George Ezra, as GaeilgeOver the past few months out class has been learning lots of new irish pop songs. We got the chance to perform ‘Shotgun’ at assembly. Amazing Art work It’s a new month, that means it’s time to change our art display. We are taking down our beautiful Ming Empire inspired vases to display these gorgeous pop-art winter mugs! Who doesn’t love a hot chocolate on a cold winter night!
6th class are learning about materials this month. Last week we experimented with various mixtures to test the solubility of different solids and liquids. We predicted whether each of the materials would have high or low solubility by creating a variety of mixtures. We tested butter, coffee, tea, sugar, blueberries, salt, rice and sun cream. It was a very interesting experiment and some of the results were very surprising. We have been learning about Ancient Rome over the past few weeks. The children worked in groups to create interesting presentations about specific areas in Ancient Rome, to teach their peers about. The topics were; Roman Architecture, Roman School, Roman People, Roman Entertainment, and Roman Influence and Rulers. Today we began presenting our posters and it is great to see how much hard work and effort each of them put in! Scroll down to see posts from the 2021/22 school year!
